FIRSTS Litter - Day 1

First 24 hours are in the books. It's so neat to see the little ones showing their personalities already. Blue Girl really is a fiesty one. She knows EXACTLY where the milk bar is, even when momma pushes her away while cleaning her. Even while Mars is cleaning her, she will push her way right back over there and latch her pretty little self on. Green Boy, however, gets all flustered and starts crying. Part of their learning and brain development involves having to navigate issues like this. Mars started off looking at me this morning with eyes that said "Well? Aren't you going to put him back?". I did that a few times and then after that I just let him figure it out. When he wasn't getting there fast enough, Mars would reach over and nudge his rear end around until he was facing the correct direction. Momma knows best, I guess.

Yep, Blue Girl is one smart cookie. I just watched Mars flip her over cleaning her and the little monster rolled herself right back over and headed over to the milk bar in an almost elevated fashion. Holy cow! This stinker isn't far from the walking stage! I think I'm in trouble. No, more like Mars is in trouble.

These lovelies also have some very good pigment coming in. I noticed it yesterday afternoon. Their ears were already getting darker and they hadn't even been on the ground a full day yet. They also both have their rear dew claws and are sticking their tails out when they eat. It's really cute. I'll try to get a picture of it for documentation. Neither is affected with cleft palate either, which I'm thankful for.

Zooming in . . .

All tucked in for the night. 💘

This one is quite funny. Notice how Green Boy is on his back with his feet in the air?

He gets himself rolled over and then Momma Mars thinks he needs his head cleaned.

This morning's weigh in has the following statistics for us:
  • Blue Girl: 432 grams (a gain of 8 grams)
  • Green Boy: 452 grams (a gain of 32 grams)
  • Mars: temp in normal range
The differences in gain could be related to them being squiggle butts on the scale. I tried to pick them up when they were sleeping with full tummies this morning, but they woke up just as soon as I touched them. Guess I have to get better at my ninja puppy pickup skills.
