FIRSTS Litter - Day 6
The babies are getting so strong, and not being able to see yet doesn't slow them down one bit! They have little trouble finding mom when they're hungry and everybody is becoming more independent, partly because it's been hot and snuggling too close is just no fun.
We've added a cooling mat to help them stay more comfortable. Mars has been spending more time away from the puppies, and she's much easier to convince to go outside to potty. This morning she decided to wonder into the kitchen to see if she could find some breakfast while I was resting my eyes.
Mars is also becoming a little more flexible with letting their extremely curious cousin Fly and grandpa Mendel come into the puppy room to catch a glimpse. Last night the boys slept at our feet while we played cribbage in the puppy room with Mars and the babies on the other side of us calmly taking a nap.
The puppies have been getting lots of handling, both with their early neurological stimulation each day and just because it's not as stressful for Mars for us to hold them. Both of them will comfortably curl up and sleep in our hands after they've had a nice meal.
Mama JoDee ordered them a cute birthday cake toy and some other fun stuff before they arrived and last night seemed like a good time to see how they liked it.
They really are such sweethearts.
Mars got in on the fun, too!!
The growth stats for today:
Green Boy: 664 grams
Blue Girl: 630 grams
